Questions and comments received from community members interested in the East Central London Elementary Panel Attendance Area Review (ECLAAR) will be presented here, along with answers provided by TVDSB staff, for the information of London school communities.

Question #5: Is it possible to consider moving only older students (e.g., Grade 5 and up) since it is too far for younger students to have to walk to? For example, making Trafalgar a middle school, keeping families with smaller children closer to Aberdeen which is a manageable distance for them to walk.
Response: The Subcommittee is welcome to provide this recommendation in the final Subcommittee report for further review and consideration by Trustees.
Question #4: Are you able to provide the numbers for the students who are outside of the new boundaries, i.e. south of Dundas St.? The details on the current maps make is very difficult to even get an idea of the amount of students who will be transferred and who will remain in district.
Response: We cannot provide street level data about students as it is a privacy issue. Based on current year enrolment there are approximately 119 students attending East Carling PS located south of Dundas Street, with an additional 8 attending Prince Charles PS because of the enrolment cap that was implemented this year.
The breakdown by grade is for current enrolment numbers and is as follows:

We are unable to provide a map with single grade breakdowns. It would provide student locational information, and this would be a privacy concern.
Question #3: Why is East Carling being redrawn for a new attendance level of 100%and not 95% or 90% to allow for growth without having to get portables? that seems counter productive to put us back to 100%
Response: Please find attached two maps that show a breakdown by age groupings (kindergarten and primary on one map, and junior and senior on the other map). Students were grouped by category to protect student privacy and anonymity. In one instance a grouping smaller than 5 was removed from the map to protect privacy and anonymity.
Question #2: In the meeting you had map view showing student population by area. is there anyone that I or the subcommittee would have access to that info for our school and is there an option to break is down by grade as well?
Response: we do our best to balance enrolment across all schools in a review. In addition, where appropriate, we try to use major roads or landmarks as boundary lines to avoid fragmenting neighbourhoods. In this case, Dundas Street was a natural boundary line for a boundary adjustment option.
Question #1: As it is, I just make it to pick up my daughter from after school program. If she is moved to Trafalgar Public School, I won't make it by 6 p.m. Our walk is 20 minutes to get home now. If she was at Trafalgar, it would be 30 minutes home. I am a single working father (I have her 365 days a year) moving us to a farther school due to what may happen with construction at the old Victoria Hospital site is not convenient to those of us who are here now.
Response: If there are extenuating circumstances, families can complete an ‘out-of-area’ request that would be considered. TVDSB Procedure 4012a outlines the process followed for out-of-area requests. Out-of-area request forms can be obtained from the destination school after a decision has been made about the proposed boundary changes.
