Welcome! Thank you for choosing the Thames Valley District School Board as a place to grow your career. Our staff work together in a wide range of roles to provide all of our students with opportunities to succeed, reach their goals, and transition successfully into their path of choice after Thames Valley. Our system goals reflect our commitment to student achievement, employee excellence and a safe, supportive environment.

Thank you for joining us as we continue along the path to success for all students.

Your New Employee Orientation has been divided into five sections. Please complete these sections in order.

  1. Pre-Employment Conditions - includes important information you must complete prior to moving onto the next section.
  2. New Hire Documentation - only to be completed once your offer of employment has been confirmed by your Staffing Specialist.
  3. Mandatory Training - this section can only be completed once you have received your employee number (TVxxxxx).
  4. Corporate Orientation - includes an overview of our departments and services. After watching the videos please complete the short quiz. Confirmation of completion will be sent to your supervisor.
  5. Useful Information - includes links to information on Thames Valley services, user guides and important policies.

Pre-Employment Conditions


You are required to complete the following before you move to the next step. 

Police Record Check

At your own expense, we require an original vulnerable position screening with a search of the pardoned sexual offenders database for employment purposes (volunteer will NOT be accepted). The police check is available through your local police department.

Generally this process takes 4-6 weeks. Please arrange as soon as possible. If a letter/form is required from our Board, please contact your Staffing Specialist.

The police check must be dated no more than 6 months prior to employment.

Please note: If you have lived outside of Canada within the past 5 years you may also require a record check from the police agency where you resided. This will be dependent on the parameters outlined by the police detachment where you make your vulnerable position screening request. This would apply to every location you may have resided in the past 5 years as listed in the letter that will be attached to your vulnerable position screening.  If this is the case, please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website for information on how to obtain a record check for outside of Canada.

Please complete and submit the following Police Record Check Declaration when submitting your police check electronically.

Proof of Qualifications

As part of your conditional offer, as requested by the Staffing Specialist, please submit documents indicating official certification, license or registration, that has been issued by the governing body pertinent to the employee group for which you are being hired.

Health and Wellness Review

*Educational Assistants, Early Childhood Educators, Custodial, Maintenance, IT, Graphic Services staff only.

Upon conditional job offer, where applicable, the Staffing Specialist will provide you with instructions and detailed information to book and complete your Post Offer Pre-Employment Screening appointments.

New Hire Documentation


Upon completion and approval of the required information outlined in Step 1, you will receive a confirmation from your Staffing Coordinator. Once this confirmation has been received, you may complete the New Hire documentation outlined below.

*All employees, please review the following documents and print and sign the Employee Code of Conduct declaration document. The declaration form will be kept in your personal file to confirm you have reviewed the policies and procedures.

Mandatory Training


The following mandatory training can only be completed once you have received your employee number. When you go to the training site you will be required to enter your names and employee number. It is important that you refer to the list below to ensure you complete all the training that is required for your employee group then click on the following button to access the mandatory training.

Please complete your required Mandatory Training within one week of receiving your employee number to ensure timely processing of your employment. Overview of Thames Valley

The Thames Valley District School Board was formed on January 1, 1998, with the amalgamation of the Elgin County Board of Education, the Board of Education for the City of London, Middlesex County Board of Education and Oxford County Board of Education. Communications and Graphic Services

The Communications Department develops and implements processes, systems and strategies that strengthen the Board's communications and relationships with key stakeholder groups. Our areas of responsibility include:

  • public relations, media relations, media training;
  • communications support for issues management, consultation processes;
  • internal communications;
  • development of system information pieces, publications;
  • system marketing, advertising, promotional items; and

Facility Services and Capital Planning

Facility Services and Capital Planning is made up of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who design, build, manage, operate and repair Thames Valley’s facilities and properties.

Our job is to provide a clean, safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable learning and work environment for students, staff and the community.

Financial Services

The Financial Services department is a member of the Business Services division, providing a broad range of financial functions to the school district. The department is responsible for the effective management and administration of the Board's financial services to meet the needs of the Board of Trustees, senior administration, schools, departments, the general public and the Ministry of Education. The Finance Department is comprised of two divisions:

Financial Reporting and Accountability

  • Budget development and control

  • Enrolment reporting and verification

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is part of Organizational Support Services and is responsible for: 

  • The negotiation, administration and interpretation of teaching and support staff collective agreements, manager and principal/vice-principal terms and conditions of employment and employee relations with these groups 

  • Overseeing the staffing processes for every position within the Board 

  • Succession planning 

  • Matters concerning staff employee relations including behaviour and performance 

  • Support for health and safety as well as for both occupational and non-occupational illness and injury 

  • Reviewing, developing and implementing employee professional development and leadership programs and initiatives

Health and Safety

Information Technology Services (ITS)

Information Technology Services' (ITS) mission is to provide high quality enterprise technology solutions and services to all staff and students of the Thames Valley District School Board in support of the Vision, Mission and Strategic priorities of the Board 

ITS provides a variety of services and support options for staff and students in the Board ranging from technology hardware and software provisioning, phone, wireless and internet to training and IT security.

One World International Welcome Centre

One World International Welcome Centre introduces international students and newly arrived Canadians to Thames Valley and helps them begin the transition to school life in Canada. The welcome centre combines two services into a single location, making the registration process easy for families.

The international student admissions office and the newcomer assessment teams work together in one place, which allows One World to provide an efficient welcoming process to all.

Special Education

All students in our schools, regardless of background or ability, will have the opportunity to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge required to live up to their full potential.

To help ensure that students needs are met, we offer various special education programs ranging from additional support offered to students in their home school (often through "Itinerant" programs where specialists come to the student's home school) to special self-contained or "congregated" classes that provide a higher level of intense support to the student.

System Staff Development

System Staff Development (SSD) supports the ongoing professional learning of all employees to develop the skills and leadership competencies which contribute to the achievement of TVDSB's strategic plan.

SSD is responsible for:

  • Reviewing, developing and implementing SSD programs and initiatives;
  • Coordinating and budgeting for staff development and professional development at the system level;
  • Working collaboratively with employees and community partners to ensure that leadership development is aligned with TVDSB strategic priorities;
  • Programs included, but are not limited to are: Occasional Teacher, New Teacher Induction Program, Support Staff, Mentoring, New Administrators and Leadership Development for all staff.
