TVDSB School Climate Caregiver Survey

Parent and Caregiver Survey

This page contains the information that parents/caregivers see when they go to complete the survey. Please note that all parents/caregivers are asked if they want to complete the survey before being asked questions about school climate. 

See below for a list of questions asked on the survey. Unless otherwise indicated, all questions are included on the survey for parents/caregivers whose children are attending school in-person. Parents/caregivers whose children are taking all their classes online, will only be asked the questions marked with an "*" .

You are being invited to complete this survey because this is your child’s school and your voice matters. We want to learn about your child’s experiences at school so we can understand what is working well and what needs to be improved.

Do I have to share my feedback?
No. If you want to share your feedback, you will be asked to select your child’s learning model (e.g., attending elementary or secondary school in-person or taking all their classes online). All other questions are optional. If you have more than one child, you are welcome to complete one survey for each of your children.

Will my answers be private?
Yes. You will not be asked to include your name or your child’s name or their student number. Your answers cannot be connected back to you in any way.

How long will it take?
It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete the survey.

Is the survey available in multiple languages?
Yes. Use the dropdown menu in the top right corner of the survey to select a language. Speak with your child’s principal if you need to complete the survey in a language not listed on the menu.

What will happen after I share my feedback?

Your answers will be combined with feedback from other parents/caregivers. This summary report will be shared with your child’s school and with staff from Thames Valley District School Board. Summary information may also be shared with Trustees, the Ministry of Education, and other community groups and partners.

Which of the following best describes how your child is currently learning?
Please select one option. If you have more than one child attending school in TVDSB, you are welcome to complete one survey for each of your children.* (Attending Elementary School In-Person, Attending Secondary School In-Person, Taking all classes online)

All the questions below are optional. If you feel that you cannot answer or feel uncomfortable answering any question, please leave it blank and move on to the next.

In the questions below, “this school” means activities happening in school buildings, on school grounds, and on school buses. It also means in online classrooms and with teachers and students your child is learning with either in-person or online. Try to answer the questions based on your child’s school experience this year.

This question is about bullying. Bullying happens when one or more students tease, threaten, spread rumours about, hit, shove or hurt another student. It is not bullying when students of about the same strength or power argue or fight or tease each other in a friendly way. Bullies are usually stronger, or have more friends or money, or some other power over the student being bullied. Usually bullying happens over and over, or the student being bullied thinks it might happen over and over. 
  • Bullying of students at school or school activities is a problem at this school.*

This question is about cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumours sent by email or posted on social networking sites and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites or fake profiles.
