Summer School for International Students

Registration for Summer Co-op 2026 will open on March 23, 2026 at 08:00 am

The Summer Cooperative Education program provides current Thames Valley District School Board secondary school  students with a valuable learning experience that demonstrates the relevance of school, the community, and skill  development as a necessary transition to the workplace. Students will have the opportunity to earn two credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

For Summer 2026, we are offering the Cooperative Education Program as an online program using the Brightspace platform with onsite placement possibilities. Students will connect with community partners as part of the virtual learning experience and will have the opportunity to also participate in virtual or on-site work related experiences where placements are available. Prior to the start of the program, students will receive notification by email providing them with details on how to log into the online program.

Brightspace is a ministry funded and provincially supported cloud-based learning management system in which students can access classroom learning activities, submit work for assessment and receive feedback. As part of this virtual learning experience, the online coop program will include involvement from community partners as Virtual Coop Mentors and Guest Speakers. Coop students will have the opportunity to explore information specifically related to their career choices and SHSM areas of focus.

  1. Students who register for Summer Coop cannot register for any other summer school programs.

  2. All course work will need to be completed online. If students/families have concerns regarding access to a device, please connect directly with the secondary home school Guidance Department.

  3. As in traditional classes, regular attendance is critical for success at summer school. Students are expected to log in on a daily basis to complete assignments and receive teacher feedback, and to be able to keep up with course material and meet due dates. Students who do not login regularly risk being removed from the program for failing to meet the requirements.

  4. International Students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the Summer Coop program. This fee must be paid prior to applying for the program. See details under Summer School for International Students above.

  5. The parent/legal guardian (or student over the age of 18) must ensure the home school has their current address, phone and/or cell number(s), email address and emergency contact information on file. All changes must be reported immediately to the home school. The Summer School office cannot make changes to this information.

  6. Students are expected to adhere to the standard rules of academic integrity. Behaviour that is contrary to a positive learning environment could result in a student's removal from the Summer Coop program. It is recommended that students read the entire Summer School Code of Conduct.

Online Orientation Session

Saturday May 9, 2026

All students who apply for the Summer Coop program must attend this mandatory Online Orientation Session.

Prior to this session, students will receive notification by email providing them with details on how to log into the online program.

Summer Co-op Program Dates

Saturdays: May 23, May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20 and June 27
Monday to Friday: July 2 - July 29

We recommend that you register early to secure a spot in the online Summer Coop program.

Students must be 14 years of age or older to apply, and students under 18 years of age must have parent/legal guardian approval to apply.

 

How to Register 

Applications for Summer Co-op will be reviewed with consideration given to references provided by the home school.  

It is also recommended that students have completed a prerequisite course that is related to the career area that they would like to explore.  Students are encouraged to begin the search for potential placement possibilities before the program begins. The primary responsibility for finding a summer co-op placement will be with the student. Students should also have a career area in mind that they would like to explore as part of their workplace related experience. This is a still a collaborative effort that will also include our summer co-op team to provide suggestions as needed. 

Note:  Some placements will require additional information, such as medical documentation that needs to be completed in advance.  All on-site placements will require approval from a member of our co-op team and must be located within the TVDSB geographic boundaries.  

REMINDER: All registrations for Co op must be done through myBlueprint and approved by Guidance.
