Westminster students roll up their sleeves to support life-saving blood donations

Westminster Secondary School students and teachers are rolling up their sleeves to give the gift of life-saving blood to those in need.

The school has sent around 200 potential donors to the Canadian Blood Services clinic in London since June 2022.

Canadian Blood Services sends a 21-passenger bus to the school two to three times per year, and the school community typically fills the bus each time.

“It reflects highly on the school community that we have so many students who are willing to donate,” said Wesley Chick, a Westminster teacher who, along with fellow teacher Kathryn Farrow, took over organizing the trips in 2022.

The school recently completed a trip in October and has two more donation drives planned for January and April.

Students and staff hope Westminster Secondary School’s success will inspire other school communities to roll up their sleeves as well.
