2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Plan

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

• This year we are focusing on helping multi-lingual learners & international students feel more welcome, included and part of the Medway High School community.
• We are also focused on increasing a sense of belonging for all Medway students.

 Priorities and Intended Outcomes:

• We hope to incorporate student and community voice into our daily practice to increase inclusivity and leadership opportunities for our students. Supporting our clubs and promoting and celebrating the diversity that makes up Medway are also priorities.
• We hope to see an impact on our climate survey results. Specifically, in the positive response rate to "feeling like they belong" at Medway.

 Key Actions or Strategies

Throughout the year, we will:

• Identify student leaders who will become part of the MLL/international student/newcomer welcoming program, BSA, ISA, MSA, and SAGA.
• Meet with the clubs to hear student voice and to collaborate on events that promote equity, diversity and inclusivity in the school.
• Adopt a Restorative Practices approach to foster interactions among students and to activate community voices.

Community and Home Connections

• Talk with your student about the importance of racial equality, diversity and inclusivity.
• Encourage students to speak up and report if the hear or witness ANY student being bullied or harassed or excluded regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation.

• Encourage students feeling marginalized, excluded or bullied to seek help from trusted adults in the school or though community supports.
