English as a Second Language (ESL) at Laurier
English as a Second Language (ESL) support is appropriate for students who have attended school and can read and write in their first languages at an age-appropriate level.

Who is eligible for ESL/ELD support?
ESL/ELD support is available for the following students in TVDSB:
- Students born in Canada who speak a language other than English or a different variety of English
- Students born outside of Canada who speak a language other than English or a different variety of English
One World International Welcome Centre
Newly arrived students whose first language is other than English (or a significantly different variety of English) and who wish to register in a TVDSB secondary school must complete a language proficiency and math assessment before registering for classes.
