2026-2027 Safe and Inclusive School Plan

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year, we will focus on fostering student mental health alongside a strong sense of belonging and citizenship, supporting students in becoming active and contributing members of the school community. Through this work, we will encourage perseverance, as students learn to navigate challenges and remain committed to both their personal growth and the well-being of others.

We are doing this to reinforce the idea that every student is a valued citizen within the school and broader community, each with shared responsibilities toward one another. Students will develop a growth mindset, recognizing that learning, relationships, and personal development are ongoing processes. They will also build accountability by reflecting on their words and actions, understanding their impact, and taking responsibility as they work collaboratively toward common community goals.

Key Actions or Strategies

Throughout this school year we will be:

• Creating a school-wide, unified approach to fostering all students to become contributing members in their school community, with focus on excellence, citizenship, leadership and safety.
• Promoting and assisting in restorative practices to support students with positive conflict resolution, relationship building and mental health.
• Developing a stronger sense of inclusion and connectedness to school and providing opportunities for students to participate in enhancing their community.  

Community and Home Connections

• Ask your child about what they found challenging at school today and how they overcame the challenge using their CAN-DO attitude.

• Try modeling positive coping strategies and positive self-talk at home with your child. This will help your student to adopt a resilient mindset and work towards de-stigmatizing tools to support mental health.
