Welcome to Riverside! We are a vibrant school community of approximately 470 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, nestled in the heart of the Oakridge neighbourhood. Our students and staff help create an energetic and engaging environment, filled with opportunities in sports, the arts, and a wide range of educational activities throughout the year. Our dedicated staff are committed to continually growing in their practice and staying current with the most effective approaches in education. Riverside students transition to Oakridge Secondary School for their high‑school years.
If you are new to Riverside—welcome! We are so glad you’re joining us. You’re about to become part of a caring and enthusiastic school community where learning is rich, meaningful, and fun. We can’t wait to meet you and begin this exciting journey together.

Riverside School is in the Oakridge Subdivision area of London. Our student population is approximately 475 students from JK to Grade 8. We are situated between Oxford Street and Riverside Drive and west of Wonderland Road. Our address is 550 Pinetree Drive which runs north off Riverside Drive, between Hyde Park Road and Wonderland Road. Riverside School was built in 1954 and has had several additions and renovations to bring it to the facility that is present today.

Riverside offers a wide variety of activities for Riverside students and the Oakridge community. In the past, these included: our annual Riverside Corn Roast & Meet the Teacher in September; Terry Fox Run in September; Monthly pizza lunches organized by our Home and School Association; Treats & Treasures Sale fundraiser organized by our Home and School Association; a Halloween event and June staff appreciation event run by our Home and School Association; and a FDK Open House in June to welcome new Full Day Kindergarten students and their parents.
We are fortunate to have both a Home and School Association that focuses on building school community through school-wide events, as well as, a School Council who has recently raised funds to help build a play area for our FDK students. Measures of Student Achievement and Success At Thames Valley, we believe that assessment and evaluation of student achievement are integral parts of the learning process. Information gathered through assessment and evaluation helps teachers to determine students' strengths and areas of need in their achievement of the curriculum expectations. It also serves to guide teachers in adapting curriculum and instructional approaches to students' needs and in assessing the overall effectiveness of programs and classroom practices. A variety of methods are used to gauge student progress including: teacher observation, problem solving, collaborative inquiry, peer and self-assessment and reviewing examples of student work. Volunteers at the school Riverside has many volunteers who contribute many hours for the benefit of our students. Dedicated volunteers serve on our School Council/Home and School Association with others who are always willing to help with specific events when needed. We have volunteers who help in the classrooms and throughout the school. Parents who may be interested in helping with the School Council/Home and School Association are more than welcome to attend any of the meetings held at the school in the evening. Parents who are interested in volunteering to support students in the classroom or Resource Room, please contact our Learning Support teacher, Mrs. Leonard.
