The John Dearness School Council is composed of elected and acclaimed volunteers from the parent/guardian community, school administration and teaching staff who work together to improve the learning environment for students.  The School Council collaborates with the principal to provide feedback and advice discussing new initiatives which may impact on school improvement programming, fundraising, and activities.

As a participant with the School Council, you have an opportunity to become better informed of school proposals, the teaching staff, and upcoming events. Participants provide direct feedback on initiatives being considered by the school administration, thereby helping to build a strong school community by shaping the programs and opportunities the school offers to students.

Parents and guardians are welcome to volunteer with the JD School Council formally in an elected position or by attending meetings.  All parents and guardians are invited to attend School council meetings to have an opportunity to offer input and vote on initiatives being considered.  Meetings are held quarterly. You are welcome to join virtually or join us in the Library Learning Commons. The Teams link will be sent by the principal prior to the meeting.

Future meetings of the School Council will be posted on the calendar. We hope to see you there!
