Welcome to Elgin Court Public School

Elgin Court Public School is part of the Thames Valley District School Board. It is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school located in the south end of St. Thomas and is part of the Parkside Community of Schools.

Our two-story building, built in 1958, is home to approximately 315 students and 40 staff members. We offer a wide range of programs including academics, the arts, and both intramural and extramural athletics.

Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is very active and supports many initiatives through fundraising and collaboration with school staff.

Emergency Drills

Schools complete regular fire, severe weather, and lockdown drills each year. Students are expected to follow staff directions and respond safely.

Emergency School Closure

In case of closure, announcements will be made on local radio stations starting at 7:00 a.m. and shared through School Messenger (phone, text, and email).

Please ensure your emergency contact information is up to date. Do not call the school during an emergency, as phone lines must remain available.

Illness or Injury

If a student becomes ill or injured, staff will contact caregivers. In emergencies, transportation to hospital may occur before contact is made.

Lost and Found

Lost items are kept near the Library Learning Commons. Labeling belongings helps ensure items are returned.

Lunchroom Expectations

  • Students must remain seated and behave respectfully.
  • Leaving school during lunch requires permission.
  • Grades 6–8 students need Parent Portal permission to leave daily.

Parking at School

  • Use Holland Avenue (rear entrance) for drop-off.
  • Front driveway is a fire lane—no parking.
  • Use designated visitor and accessible parking spaces appropriately.

School Bus Expectations

  • Arrive at stops 10 minutes early.
  • Kindergarten students must be met by an adult.
  • Bus transportation follows assigned routes only.

School Yard Expectations

Supervision begins at 8:45 a.m.

  • Show respect at all times.
  • Stay within assigned play areas.
  • Seek permission before leaving the yard.
  • Use equipment safely; no rough play.
  • Walk bicycles and store them properly.
  • Do not throw snow.
  • Follow staff directions.

Visiting the School

Visitors must use the front entrance. Items for students will be delivered by staff to avoid disruption.

For pickups, wait in designated areas and follow school procedures to ensure student safety.
