Design our 2021 Seasonal Greeting Card

All students are encouraged to create an original work of art for the cover of our seasonal Thames Valley greeting card.

Also, if selected, your artwork may be reproduced along with other student selections to create a holiday package of cards for next holiday season (2022) to raise money for The Caring Fund. This fund provides emergency assistance for students in the Thames Valley District School Board in need.

This year, each school is encouraged to hold its own competition and selection process and submit only the best student artwork in each category. The Board selection committee will then choose an overall winning piece of artwork from each category to be featured as a cover for our seasonal Thames Valley greeting cards.

This new format makes it easier for schools to submit their artwork and allows students to keep their masterpieces with them. We encourage schools to get their students involved with the promotion of the contest and selection of the school winners!

Categories

Schools can submit one winning artwork design in each of the following categories:

  • Special Education
  • Primary (JK – Grade 3)
  • Junior (Grades 4-6)
  • Senior (Grades 7-8)
  • Secondary (Grades 9-12)
  • Adult and Continuing Education

*Virtual learners should be invited to submit artwork and included with their host school competition.

Criteria for Artwork

  • All submissions must be the original artwork of the student; no copyright images and/or subjects accepted.
  • Please ensure artwork is generic, and features winter themes only (traditional symbols such as Santa and Christmas trees will not be considered).
  • Acceptable entry media include photography, digital art, and traditional media (such as paint, crayon, collage, pencil, pastel, and mixed media).
  • If artwork features people in a photograph, a permission form MUST be signed by the guardian of the subject and submitted with the entry.
  • Each entry must be labeled with student’s name, teacher’s name, student’s grade, and school name.

Please note: The printed card size is 4.25” x 5.5” at 300 DPI. Cards can be printed in a vertical or horizontal format depending on the orientation of the student art. Original art work can be any size, but similar proportions is helpful to ensure it fills the space and no cropping is required.
