The purpose of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is to benefit all Ontarians by developing accessibility standards with respect to goods and services, facilities and public spaces, and employment – as a cooperative effort involving persons with disabilities, the Ontario Government, and representatives of various industries and sectors, both public and private. The AODA also sets out a process and timelines for implementing and enforcing accessibility standards.

The AODA requires each school board to publish a multi-year accessibility plan in consultation with people with disabilities, and to report annually on the plan’s implementation.

Thames Valley’s Accessibility Working Group continues to guide work towards objectives identified during the 2021-2022 school year with respect to TVDSB’s areas of responsibility governed by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA): Information and Communication, Employment, Built Environment, and Customer Service. The Working Group has prepared a draft multi-year Accessibility Plan for 2023-2025 incorporating these objectives. The Plan also articulates supporting actions and measurable indicators of progress. The Accessibility Plan will be finalized in the New Year. Future updates will be posted to this page.
