The purpose of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is to benefit all Ontarians by developing accessibility standards with respect to goods and services, facilities and public spaces, and employment – as a cooperative effort involving persons with disabilities, the Ontario Government, and representatives of various industries and sectors, both public and private. The AODA also sets out a process and timelines for implementing and enforcing accessibility standards.

The AODA requires each school board to publish a multi-year accessibility plan in consultation with people with disabilities, and to report annually on the plan’s implementation.
