Summer School General Information and Expectations
  1. Students may only take ONE Summer School Credit Course, regardless of the mode of delivery. This can be one full credit course, or two half credit courses (e.g. Civics, Careers).
  2. Students should speak to their school Guidance Counsellor regarding course selections and the required prerequisite courses.
  3. Students under 18 years of age must have parent/legal guardian approval to register for summer school.
  4. Regular attendance and punctuality are critical for success at summer school. Due to the compressed time frame of summer school, daily attendance and punctuality are mandatory. Accommodations will not be made for family vacation plans or personal activities. Exam dates cannot be rescheduled or modified. 
  5. Students must arrive for class by 8:15 a.m. on the first day of summer school to ensure they do not lose their place in the class. Absence on the first day may result in the student being removed from the course, or their place could be given to another student on the wait list.
  6. International Students are required to pay Summer School Course Fees prior to registering for a summer school course. See details under Registration Information.
  7. A security deposit of $100.00 will be required if a textbook and/or materials are used for your course. On the first day of summer school students must provide their teacher with a cheque, money order or Ontario Works book deposit form made payable to Thames Valley District School Board. (Other methods of payment will not be accepted). The cheque or money order will be returned to the student at the end of the course once the textbook/materials are returned in good condition. In the event that the textbook/materials are not returned or are not in good condition, the security deposit will be used to cover the cost of replacement.
  8. TVDSB reserves the right to cancel courses if there is insufficient enrolment. Students/parents will be notified by phone or email if a course is cancelled.
  9. Students are responsible for their own transportation.
  10. Students are expected to adhere to the standard rules of academic integrity and follow the Summer School Code of Conduct. Behaviour that is contrary to a positive learning environment could result in a student's removal from summer school. See the Summer School Code of Conduct. 
Registration Information and Forms

Registration opens Monday, April 1, 2019
We recommend that you register early to secure a spot in your preferred course. Once a course is full a wait-list will be established and used on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, please be aware that a course may be cancelled if there is insufficient enrolment for the course.


Registration Closing Date: Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.

Late registrations will not be accepted.

Grade 8 students starting Grade 9 at a secondary school in September should speak to the Learning Support Teacher (LST) or Guidance Lead at their current elementary school if they are interested in registering for a summer In-Class course.


International Students:

Students who are not Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents are required to pay Summer School Course Fees prior to registering for a summer course.

The 2019 fees are as follows:

  • $1750.00 for a full credit course
  • $875.00 for a half credit course

Payment must be made in person at G.A. Wheable Centre - Summer School Office, 70 Jacqueline St, London, (Monday to Friday 8:30 -11:30 a.m. or 1-3 p.m.) by one of the following payment methods:

  • Money order or bank draft made payable to Thames Valley District school Board
  • Cash (must be exact amount, we cannot provide change)
  • Debit (one transaction only, daily limit must allow for full payment)

A receipt will be issued at the time of payment.

  • Please open these registration forms in Adobe Reader for best results. These forms may not be fully supported in other PDF readers or on mobile devices.
  • Before printing the registration form, please ensure all of the required fields have been completed. To save paper, please print the form two-sided, if possible.
  • Once printed, the registration form must be hand signed by the student, and by the parent/legal guardian if student is under the age of 18.
