Grade 7-8 Literacy and Numeracy Camp and ESL Camp

The Grade 7/8 Literacy and Numeracy Camp and the ESL Camp are non-credit summer programs available to any student entering grade 7 or 8 in September 2020 who is looking to review or further develop Literacy and Numeracy knowledge and skills.

Literacy and Numeracy skills will be enhanced through an activity based program. Students will have the opportunity to build upon both the knowledge base and processes in the grade 7/8 mathematics and literacy curriculum through practical, hands-on, student-relatable contexts.

Monday July 6, 2020 to Friday July 17, 2020
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily

Summer School General Information and Expectations
  1. Students are expected to be punctual and attend all 10 days of the program from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Students are not allowed to leave the school early without a permission note. When a student is absent or needs to leave early the parent/legal guardian must provide the teacher with a signed written permission note giving the reason for the absence.
  2. International students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the Grade 7-8 Literacy and Numeracy Camp and ESL Camp. This fee must be paid prior to registering for this program. See details under "Registration Information" below.
  3. For TVDSB students, the parent/legal guardian must ensure the home school has their current address, phone and/or cell number(s), email address and emergency contact information on file. All changes must be reported immediately to the home school. The Summer School office cannot make changes to this information.
  4. TVDSB reserves the right to cancel this program at any locations where there is insufficient enrolment. The parent/legal guardian will be contacted if there is a cancellation.
  5. Students are responsible for their own transportation.
  6. Students are expected to adhere to the standard rules of academic integrity. Behaviour that is contrary to a positive learning environment could result in a student's removal from the program.  It is recommended that students read the entire Summer School Code of Conduct
Registration Information and Forms

Registration Opens: Wednesday May 6, 2020

Registration Closes: Thursday July 2, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.

**Late registrations will not be accepted.

We recommend that you register early to secure a spot in this program. Also, please be aware that if there is insufficient enrolment at any of the locations the program may be cancelled at that location.


Prior to Registering

Parents/legal guardians should speak to the Learning Support Teacher (LST) or the Guidance Lead at the student’s current elementary school if they are interested in registering the student for this program.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:  Students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the Grade 7-8 Literacy and Numeracy Summer Camp or ESL Summer Camp programs. The 2020 fee is $660.00 and must be paid prior to registering for the program.

Payment must be made in person at G.A. Wheable Centre - Summer School Office, 70 Jacqueline St, London. Payments can only be accepted Monday to Friday 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 1:00-2:45 p.m. by one of the following payment methods:

  • Money order or bank draft payable to: Thames Valley District School Board
  • Cash (must be exact amount, we cannot provide change)
  • Debit (one transaction only, daily limit must allow for full payment)

A receipt will be issued at the time of payment.


There are two registration forms – one for current TVDSB students and one for Non-TVDSB students. These registration forms must be completed and submitted by the Parent or Legal Guardian.

NOTE: The registration forms will be available on May 6, 2020 when registration begins.
