Jump Start! Grade 9 Literacy/Numeracy Prep is a summer program for Grade 8 students entering a Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) high school in September 2025. This program is geared towards students who would like to develop their Math and English skills in preparation for secondary school. Students will have the opportunity to build upon the knowledge base and processes foundational to Grade 9 Math and Grade 9 English. This year students will be granted a secondary credit if both programs are successfully completed.  Students will be granted a GLD2O credit.

Summer School General Information and Expectations
  1. As Summer School is an optional program, students are expected to have a device and Internet access to complete any assignments.  If students/families have concerns regarding access to a device, please connect directly with the secondary home school Guidance Department.
  2. Students are expected to attend all classes.
  3. International students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the Jump Start! Grade 9 Literacy/Numeracy Prep program. This fee must be paid prior to registering for this program. Fees are due by June 12, 2025 at noon. See details under "Summer School for International Students above.
  4. For TVDSB students, the parent/legal guardian must ensure the student's home school has their current address, phone/cell number(s), email address and emergency contact information on file. All changes must be reported immediately to the home school. The Summer School office cannot make changes to this information.
  5. TVDSB reserves the right to cancel this program if there is insufficient enrolment. The parent/legal guardian will be contacted if there is a cancellation.
  6. Students are expected to adhere to the standard rules of academic integrity. Behaviour that is contrary to a positive learning environment could result in a student's removal from the program. It is recommended that students read the entire Summer School Code of Conduct
