International Baccalaureate Diploma Program

Within Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB), Oakridge Secondary School has become a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Oakridge is currently pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy of a commitment to providing a learning environment that exemplifies a high-quality, challenging, and international education that we believe is important for our students. The IBDP is a rigorous path of secondary school study offered in grades 11 and 12. It is our intention to be supporting our first cohort of grade 11 IBDP students starting in September of 2020.

Recognized around the world and offered in more than 3000 schools internationally, the IBDP develops inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people that are ready to excel in post-secondary education and the world beyond.

Student preparation for this challenging pathway starts in a pre-IB grade 9 and 10 program at Oakridge Secondary School which extends and accelerates learning within various subjects to properly prepare students for the grade 11 and 12 IBDP curriculum.  As of September 2018, Oakridge has already started to provide an extended pathway of subjects for students leading them into the IB Diploma Programme.
