High School MATH and ENGLISH Here I Come!

High School MATH and ENGLISH Here I Come is a summer program for Grade 8 students entering a Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) high school in September 2022.  This program is geared towards students who would like to develop their Math and English skills in preparation for secondary school. Students will have the opportunity to build upon the knowledge base and processes foundational to Grade 9 Math and Grade 9 English. This year students will be granted a secondary credit if both programs are successfully completed.  Students will either be granted a GLS1O or ELS2O credit.

Summer School General Information and Expectations
  1. As Summer School is an optional program, students are expected to have a device and Internet access to complete any assignments.  If students/families have concerns regarding access to a device, please connect directly with the secondary home school Guidance Department.
     
  2. Students are expected to attend all classes.
     
  3. International students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the High School MATH Here I Come! program. This fee must be paid prior to registering for this program. See details under "International Students" below.

  4. For TVDSB students, the parent/legal guardian must ensure the student's home school has their current address, phone/cell number(s), email address and emergency contact information on file. All changes must be reported immediately to the home school. The Summer School office cannot make changes to this information.

  5. TVDSB reserves the right to cancel this program if there is insufficient enrolment. The parent/legal guardian will be contacted if there is a cancellation.

  6. Students are expected to adhere to the standard rules of academic integrity. Behaviour that is contrary to a positive learning environment could result in a student's removal from the program. It is recommended that students read the entire Summer School Code of Conduct.

Registration Opens: Thursday May 12, 2022

Registration Closes: Thursday June 16, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

**Late registrations will not be accepted.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 
 

Students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the High School MATH Here I Come! program. The 2022 fee is $900.00  and must be paid prior to registering for this program.

**PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT SUBMITTING YOUR PAYMENT**

1. Payment must be made by wire transfer to Thames Valley District School Board using the following "Account Information For Wiring Funds" listed below.

2. When submitting a wire transfer please make sure you include “Summer School” and “student name” in the Reference field so that the funds received in our account can be matched to the summer school program. 

2. A copy of the bank wire confirmation or receipt must be submitted by email to: hshic@tvdsb.ca along with the following information:

  • student name
  • name of current school
  • name of summer program student has registered for (e.g. High School Math Here I Come)

International students cannot be registered for the High School MATH Here I Come! program until payment confirmation has been received.
