High School Here I Come!

Get a head start on Grade 9 with four days of tips, hints and skills!

High School Here I Come! is a non-credit summer program for Grade 8 students who are starting at a TVDSB high school in September. Students will be provided with a variety of learning skills and strategies designed to help them with their transition to secondary school. Grade 9 English and Math curriculum will also be introduced with a focus on enhancing skills in these areas. Monday August 24, 2020 to Thursday August 27, 2020
9:00 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. daily

NOTE: Students are expected to be punctual and attend all 4 days of the program

from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily. 

General Information and Expectations

1. Students are expected to be punctual and attend all 4 days of the program from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily. Students are not allowed to leave the school early without a permission note. When a student is absent or needs to leave early the parent/legal guardian must provide the teacher with a signed written permission note giving the reason for the absence.

2. International students are required to pay Summer School Fees prior to registering for this program. See details under "Registration Information and Forms" below.

3. For TVDSB students, the parent/legal guardian must ensure the home school has their current address, phone and/or cell number(s), email address and emergency contact information on file. All changes must be reported immediately to the home school. The Summer School office cannot make changes to this information.

4. TVDSB reserves the right to cancel this program at any locations where there is insufficient enrolment. The parent/legal guardian will be contacted if there is a cancellation.

5. Students are responsible for their own transportation.

6. Students are expected to adhere to the standard rules of academic integrity. Behaviour that is contrary to a positive learning environment could result in a student's removal from the program. It is recommended that students read the entire Summer School Code of Conduct

Registraton Information and Forms

Registration Opens: Friday May 1, 2020

Registration Closes: Tuesday August 18, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.

**Late registrations will not be accepted.

We recommend that you register early to secure a spot in this program. Also, please be aware that if there is insufficient enrolment at any of the locations the program may be cancelled at that location. 

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Students who are currently required to pay International Fees to attend regular day school will also be required to pay a fee to attend the High School Here I Come! program. The 2020 fee is $132.00 and must be paid prior to registering for the program.

Payment must be made in person at G.A. Wheable Centre - Summer School Office, 70 Jacqueline St, London. Payments can only be accepted Monday to Friday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. or from 1:00-2:45 p.m. by one of the following payment methods:

  • Money order or bank draft made payable to: Thames Valley District School Board
  • Cash (must be exact amount, we cannot provide change)
  • Debit (one transaction only, daily limit must allow for full payment)

A receipt will be issued at the time of payment.


There are two registration forms – one for current TVDSB students and one for Non-TVDSB students. These registration forms must be completed and submitted by the Parent/Legal Guardian.

NOTE: The registration forms will be available on May 1, 2020 when registration begins.
