The Hairstyling Program at G. A. Wheable Adult Education Centre is designed for individuals interested in exploring and pursuing a career in the hairstyling and aesthetics industry. The program offers students up to 8 credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) over 4 terms. This includes courses related to hairstyling and aesthetics, in addition to co-operative education with the opportunity to participate in a placement at a salon or barbershop. This hands-on experience allows students to see the industry in action and builds valuable connections that may lead to apprenticeship opportunities. For those aiming to become licensed hairstylists, the course delivers both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential to becoming an apprentice. In addition, students gain the foundational theory needed to prepare for the Level 1 exemption exam, helping them to progress more confidently and efficiently in their professional journey.

Our in school component will allow students to gain hands-on experiences by using professional materials and equipment. Students will learn professional terminology, transferable problem solving skills, and learn skills that will assist them in the hairstyling and aesthetics fields. In addition, students will have the ability to expand their communication and interpersonal skills by interacting with their peers and clients.
