Our Indigenous students can particpate in the following leadership opportunities:
First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Leadership Council |
The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Leadership Council is a Thames Valley council run in partnership with the Fourth R program at Western University. It is made up of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students (grades 10-12) and provides opportunities for leadership and personal growth. This year the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Leadership Council consists of 25 students representing: H.B. Beal SS, Central Elgin SS, Clarke Road SS, Sir Frederick Banting SS, Glendale High School, Montcalm SS, Parkside Collegiate Institute, Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, Sir Wilfrid Laurier SS, and Saunders SS. The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Leadership Council is an amazing opportunity for you to voice your opinions and ideas to improve the educational experiences for all Indigenous students.
Interested students should inquire at your Guidance Office or the Main Office for more information. |
Indigenous Student Trustee |
Each year an Indigenous Student Trustee is elected in the Fall to represent the voice of students who identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit. They will serve alongside our other Student Trustees to represent the student body at the Board table. Candidates must be a full-time grade 11 or 12 or equivalent student. |
First Nation Advisory Committee |
The First Nation Advisory Committee (FNAC) was established over 10 years ago. The committee's mandate is to make recommendations to the Board in regards to the implementation of the tuition agreements. As such, FNAC provides a forum for school administrators and First Nation community representatives to share issues and concerns regarding the programming as it relates with Indigenous students and schools associated with tuition agreements. |
