The following questions and comments have been received from community members interested in the Western Middlesex Attendance Area Review. They are presented here, along with answers by TVDSB staff, for the information of Western Middlesex school communities. Click on this link to submit your questions or comments
1. The first motion approved by the Board says “subdivision plans 39T-MC1301 and 39T-MC0902 be permanently designated to the existing attendance area of Delaware Central P.S. effective immediately.” Geographically, where are these subdivisions located?
This motion applies to the communities of Kilworth Heights West (File No. 39T-MC1301 / 39T-MC-CDM1704) and Southwinds (File No. 39T-MC0902) located on the west side of Kilworth. These areas are currently being developed and are generally located south of Glendon Drive and west of Springfield Way / Stephen Moore Drive.
2. The second motion approved by the Board says the “subdivisions of Timberwalk 39T-MC0401 and Clear Skies 39T-MC1401 be permanently designated to the existing attendance area of Oxbow P.S. effective September 2020.” Geographically, where are these subdivisions located?
This motion applies to the communities of Timberwalk (West Ilderton Holding Zone – 39T-MC0401) and Clear Skies (East Ilderton Holding Zone – File No. 39T-MC1401) within the Village of Ilderton.
Students and siblings who currently reside in the East and West Ilderton Holding Zones, as well as future elementary students within the area, will be permanently accommodated at Oxbow P.S. effective September 2020.
3. I live in one of the Ilderton Holding Zones. What if I want my children to remain at Valleyview P.S., or wish to send them to Oxbow P.S. after September 2020?
The third motion approved by the Board provides parents with a “limited exemption” – sometimes referred to as “grandparenting.” This motion permits a student(s) and their siblings to remain at Valleyview P.S. as long as they desire.
A family could choose to move a student(s) and their siblings to Oxbow P.S. at any time.
However, once a decision is made to move to Oxbow P.S., then the student(s) and their siblings would need to apply to return to Valleyview P.S. through the out-of-area exemption process and would no longer be eligible for Board provided transportation.
4. If students in the Ilderton Holding Zones choose to remain at Valleyview P.S., will they receive transportation as long as they remain at Valleyview P.S.?
Yes. The third motion approved by the Board states that transportation will continue to be provided: “for so long as the student and their siblings continue to reside at the address they did at the time of the establishment of the new boundary and until such time the students and their siblings graduate from Valleyview P.S. or otherwise cease attending that school for their own reasons.”
5. How can I determine if my family is affected by any of these changes?
The Board’s online “Find My Local School” tool has been updated to reflect all changes for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 school years. To determine the home school for your children, enter your address at www.tvdsb.ca/SchoolFinder
6. Now that the Ilderton Holding Zones have been permanently designated to the existing attendance area of Oxbow P.S., effective September 2020, how do I change enrolment for my children to Oxbow P.S.? Any information on this process would be helpful.
Parents and Guardians who reside in the Ilderton Holding Zones who wish to enroll their child at Oxbow P.S. for September 2020 are asked to contact the Valleyview P.S. Principal to request a pupil registration form. Parents and Guardians should then deliver the completed registration form to the Oxbow P.S. Principal to complete the process.
