School Climate Survey

School climate matters.

It defines the quality and character of life in each school across the district. We want to hear from our students, families, and staff about how we can make our schools safer and more inclusive.

Starting November 18, 2019, all TVDSB students in Grades 5 - 12 are invited to complete an anonymous survey about the following:

  • engagement (e.g., relationships, participation at school)

  • school safety (e.g., bullying, substance abuse)

  • school environment (e.g., teaching and learning, mental health)

Students will be provided time during class to complete the online survey if they choose to do so. Families with children under 18 years of age can request that their child not complete the survey by contacting the principal of their child’s school.

The School Climate Survey is anonymous. Students will not be asked to include their name or student number. Answers cannot be connected back to individual students.

Answers from all students who complete the survey will be combined in summary reports. Results will be shared with school principals and TVDSB staff to develop School Climate Action Plans. These plans help create safe, more inclusive schools and support mental health and well-being.
