Lori-Ann Pizzolato was elected to the Board of Trustees in October 2018, representing London Wards 1,11,12 and 14.
Her journey began in the field of geology with a passion for rocks associated with diamonds. After graduate studies at University of Western Ontario and University of Toronto, she embarked on a career as a geologist in mining and oil and gas companies and continues today to be a partner in a local geological consulting firm.
With a professional history in the mining industry, Lori-Ann has a strong foundation in problem-solving and critical thinking, skills she applies diligently to the challenges facing our educational institutions. Her time spent in both the private sector and academia has provided her with a well-rounded perspective on the needs and demands of the modern school system. She brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to her role.
She became actively involved in her school community as her children began attending TVDSB schools. She found herself interested in their education and well-being. Her involvement in school life began as a parent volunteer, participating in various activities and committees to support her children's educational journey. She realized the vital role that parents and caregivers play in shaping the educational experiences of our young learners. Motivated by this understanding, she eagerly took on leadership roles within the School Council and Home & School Associations.
Her passion for advocating for quality education continued to grow, and she found herself drawn to the idea of contributing at a broader level. This desire led her to run for the position of School Board Trustee within the TVDSB.
Today, she is proud to serve as a School Board Trustee, where she works diligently to represent the interests of students, staff, families, and the community. Her journey from the world of geology to active involvement in her children's education and, ultimately, to the role of a School Board Trustee reflects her unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for all students within our district. “I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead and remain dedicated to making a positive impact on education in our community.”
During her tenure as a School Board Trustee, Lori-Ann has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, serving as Board Chair for 2.5 years. She has been actively involved in many TVDSB committees, ranging from the Special Education Advisory to Policy Working. She continues to champion educational excellence and advocate for the diverse needs of our students, ensuring that our schools remain centers of innovation, opportunity, and growth.
She is deeply committed to the local community and firmly believes in the concept of community schools, where education extends beyond the classroom to embrace the entire community. I believe that a strong school community is instrumental in providing the support and resources needed for students to thrive and I believe in creating a sense of belonging and shared responsibility for the success of all students.
