Accommodation Studies

An integral component of student accommodation planning is the development of a system-wide strategic plan that highlights priority and pressure areas across Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB). Historically, TVDSB staff have published Draft Accommodation Studies for the elementary and secondary panels. These documents have highlighted areas with potential accommodation concerns where more detailed observation and examination were required. These documents also offered recommendations for addressing the accommodation challenges.

The proposed changes announced by the Ministry of Education in Spring 2019 have the potential to significantly impact student accommodation planning strategies. TVDSB staff have identified eight (8) priority areas across the system, as presented to the Planning and Priorities Advisory Committee on June 11, 2019.

Evaluation of how the available accommodation planning tools can be best applied in light of these uncertainties and the development of a draft strategic plan continues as staff await further direction from the Ministry of Education.
