The following is a statement by Chair Lori-Ann Pizzolato on behalf of the Board of Trustees, in response to the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s recent statement on Code obligations of education officials and Letter to the community on anti-Black racism in education.

“Thames Valley District School Board stands with the Ontario Human Rights Commission in its support for education officials conducting human rights work to address systemic racism. The Board stands against discrimination and is committed to supporting education officials in the critical work being done to support the community. This work is essential to creating meaningful change and removing systemic barriers in our schools and workplaces. We remain committed to upholding Ontario Human Rights legislation and protecting the safety and well-being of students, staff, families and community members.”
