It is the mandate of the Public Affairs and Community Relations Department to manage the Board’s internal and external communication strategies.

It is responsible for media and community relations activities as well as providing leadership on the major communication issues of the day.

It also works to strengthen the involvement of stakeholder and community groups in the activities of Thames Valley. In fulfilling its mandate, Public Affairs and Community Relations offers a wide range of specialized writing, photographic and electronic and graphic production skills.

It is responsible for Thames Valley’s District web site and the printed and electronic versions of The Report to the Community. It is responsible for marketing and advertising activities on behalf of the Board as well as ongoing liaison with School Council, Home and School and Parent Group organizations throughout Thames Valley.

A major focus is on helping leaders at all levels of the organization to deal more effectively with their various publics and to build strong communication links with the widest possible variety of internal and external audiences.
