The Thames Valley District School Board is one of the largest public boards in Ontario and serves an area that spans 200 km from Rodney to Tavistock and Glencoe to Norwich, over 7,000 square kilometres.
We came into being on January 1, 1998, with the amalgamation of the Elgin County Board of Education, The Board of Education for the City of London, Middlesex County Board of Education and Oxford County Board of Education. As a public education provider, we offer a full range of programs and services to learners across Thames Valley. We have 170 schools serving approximately 75,500 elementary and secondary school students. Our District covers urban, suburban and rural communities.
Overseeing our Board are 15 trustees - 6 elected to represent London; 2 each for Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford; 1 Native representative; two non-voting student trustee. Our current Chairperson is Terry Roberts.

Our 2010-2011 Budget: $747,323,124
In June 2010, the Board submitted a budget with revenues of $742,024,944 and expenses of $747,323,124 for the 2010-2011 school year.
Transportation Services
Board Meetings
The Board regularly meets in public session during the school year on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month and in Committee of the Whole on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Information Committee of the Whole meets as required.

Our Schools
- Student population of approximately 75,500.
- 142 elementary and 28 secondary schools.
- Various specialized facilities ranging from outdoor education centres, and a school for the arts.
- Adult & Continuing Education programs annually serve approximately 40,000 students through adult day school, Continuing Education, Adult ESL, general interest, night school and summer school courses.
- Alternative Education programs, which include U-Turn, a program for longterm suspended or expelled students, annually address the learning and social-emotional needs of over 300 students who have not been successful learners in their home schools.
- More than 7,800 full and part-time staff, including approximately 1,890 secondary teachers (full-time equivalents) and 3,125 elementary teachers (full-time equivalents).
- The Thames Valley Parent Involvement Committee, School Councils, Home and School Associations, and other parent groups contribute to and enhance classroom learning and facilitate community involvement in schools.
- Over 500 awards, scholarships and bursaries available to our students with a combined value of over $5 million.
Our Performance
- As a public education provider, we offer a full range of programs and services to learners across Thames Valley.
- We take considerable pride in the achievement of our students. Thames Valley graduates are consistently among the top entrants to college and university programs.
- We work actively with community partners in business, industry and education to provide pathways to the world of work for our students through cooperative education apprenticeship and work experience programs.
- We provide programs for about 19,000 special needs students. Only about 50% of these students have been formally identified through the IPRC process.
- We are committed to a continuous improvement in learning.
- We provide continuous opportunities for growth for all employees through staff training and staff development.
- We are ensuring that students have access to the latest technology through a strong commitment to an annual investment in hardware, software and staff training.
- We are proud of our partnership with the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), a Board standing committee of volunteer representatives which operates to further the interests of exceptional children.
- We are committed to providing a safe learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.

Transportation Services
- 28,000 students or approximately 30% of the student population receive transportation to 90% of our schools.
- 18 transportation firms provide services for 1,386 routes.
- School vehicles travel 112,000 kilometres daily or 21,280,000 kilometres annually.
- Safety programs and procedures are in place to ensure the highest safety levels possible for students.
