1. Each university calendar has a section on special scholarships for which students may apply. Your copy of College Guide and INFO lists all colleges and universities and describes the scholarships offered with regard to DEADLINES, VALUE and CRITERIA for applicants.
If you are applying for September admission to an Ontario university or college, complete the profile sheet on the last page of this booklet and submit it to your counsellor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Your profile is used to assess your suitability as a candidate for the various awards and possible scholarships. Anyone may qualify for a variety of awards.
2. Entrance scholarships are often determined by the university according to marks and need not be applied for. Read the requirements. Most universities offer scholarships along with admission offers. These require no application.
3. Keep your eyes on the bulletin boards which display posters and information about scholarships. Check out the Scholarship Binder in the Guidance Office for other available scholarships. Deadline for application varies. It is your responsibility to be informed.
4. Ask your parents to speak to their employers about financial assistance for post-secondary education. Many companies offer scholarships and bursaries to their employees' children.
Peruse the Scholarship Binder in the Guidance Office on a regular basis. Scholarship applications arrive at different times of the school year.
Pickup a copy of the Scholarship Information brochure provided by the Guidance Dept. for more information on the great variety in financial assistance and application procedures.
