Change the World - Earn Volunteer Hours

From April 21 to May 20, log as many volunteer hours as you can!

Get involved and earn your community hours. Submit your community service hours sheets to guidance during the week of May 21 - 24th.

It’s that time again: the Ontario ChangeTheWorld Youth Volunteer Challenge is back!

What is ChangeTheWorld?

ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge is a four-week campaign from April 21st to May 20th with one goal: get high school students to volunteer in their community. Bonus: Students get the community involvement hours they need to graduate from high school!

In 2012, 25 volunteer centres took up the challenge, helping us to surpass our target yet again. Almost 28,000 youth volunteered throughout Ontario, generating close to 124,000 hours over 4 weeks.

This is the second consecutive year that Banting has participated in the ChangeTheWorld Youth Volunteer Challenge. This year Banting is working with the Pillar Nonprofit Network to try to get as many volunteer hours as possible. We are already off to a great start, with 70 students participating in the ChangeTheWorld Kickoff party that happened on March 24th, logging 210 hours to this year’s total.

Why volunteer?

  • Get the volunteer hours you need for graduation
  • Build your resume and expand job opportunities
  • Learn or develop new skills
  • Meet new people
  • Learn about your community
  • Identify your abilities and interests—what can you do, what do you enjoy doing?

What volunteer opportunities are available for Banting students?

  • For general volunteer opportunities, contact local service clubs, cultural groups, your place of worship, programs such as Meals on Wheels, or youth organizations such as the YMCA/YWCA, Boys and Girls Clubs, Scouts and Guides.
  • Visit guidance to sign up for local volunteer opportunities around Banting.

When you do volunteer, don’t forget to bring your volunteer form to the event so you can get it signed!
