Learning Cycle

A Learning Cycle in mathematics is a collaborative process among teachers, administrators and (often) facilitators that seeks to focus instruction based on a demonstrated student need in order to improve student achievement.  A Learning Cycle utilizes a planning template focusing on the overall expectations, big ideas and mathematical process(es) for a three week period.  Using a paper data wall or an electronic version, teachers can track and monitor student progress to celebrate successes and areas for improvement.
