What's happening these days in grade 6?
- The Netbooks are here! The Netbooks are here! Thanks to support from Mme. Rheault, we have been granted 10 netbooks for a pilot project on collaborative online learning in French to further our school goal: l'écriture! Woohoo!
- Language Arts/Français: Voicethread! Edmodo! Glogster! Google Docs!
We are also currently working on our Teaching & Learning Critical Pathway. Our focus for the coming weeks is the reading/writing connection, specifically: reading texts for deeper meaning and finding specific evidence in the text to support our interpretations.
- Science - Electricity wrap up: we're almost finished our turbines! We are working on our Biographies des Scientifiques (l'électricité, le vol, et l'espace). However, with the arrival of netbooks, this writing project will be taking a trip: online! For the moment, if you have your research, I respectfully ask that you hold on to your ideas until our Netbooks are up and running. Expect to learn and practice new ways of writing online that could help improve our writing.
- Maths - Geometry & Measurement: Area, Volume, Total Surface Area, Transformations....
- Language - Persuasive Writing & Poetry (Figures of Speech)
- Français - Reading: Using details from the text to support our responses. Writing: Les Verbes
- Social Studies - First Nations and Early Explorers!
