London Central SS goes to the top

London Central Secondary School senior team finished second in the national Reach for the Top finals in Toronto recently, winning silver medals for the team and a plaque for the school.

The Central Ghosts earned a berth at the national championships after placing second in this year’s provincial finals, following a first place win at the regional championship at Western University.

As TVDSB champions, each winning team member was awarded a $1,500 scholarship to Western. London Central has been very competitive in the Reach for the Top league since 2002.

“This year’s team was not only talented, but full of a lot of energy and heart. It was great to see them do so well,” says the team’s coach, teacher Mike Pizzuti.

Reach for the Top has been a Canadian institution in secondary schools since the 1960s. Junior and senior Reach for the Top teams from various TVDSB schools and other school boards participated in the championship competition at Western University.
