Glencoe students travel to France

During March Break, 33 students and four staff chaperones from Glencoe District High School travelled to France.

At the Canadian National Memorial Park at Vimy Ridge, they toured the trenches and tunnels of the Allied forces, spent time in the museum and were awed by the actual monument which bears the names of thousands of Canadian soldiers

The students also visited Dieppe, the Juno Beach information centre, and spent a day at a local school in Deauville where they took part in various classes and exchange experiences.

One of the highlights for many of the students was the opportunity to speak French. The trip concluded with a two-day tour of Paris.

In the photo, the students are pictured in front of the famous Basilique du Sacre Coeur – a popular landmark located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city of Paris.
