Glencoe DHS celebrates 60 years at reunion

On the weekend of May 18-20, Glencoe District High School is rolling out the welcome mat in celebration of its 60th anniversary – and launching a new book about the schools in the district.

All current and past members of the GDHS community are invited to join returning graduates for a fun and diverse lineup of events, including a pub night, automobile show, dinner and dancing, a golf tournament and reunion parties for classes throughout the decades.

The events begin with Pub Night on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Glencoe Curling Arena. Saturday activities at the school include tours of the school decorated to commemorate each decade, the auto show and a barbeque provided by current students. The golf tournament and trips down memorabilia lane at Ekfrid Museum will be held on Sunday.

The Glencoe and District Historical Society will launch “Schools of our Heritage: A History of Schools of Southwest Middlesex Ontario ” – a brand new book about the local elementary and secondary schools. The book will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

Registration for reunion events continue throughout the weekend. It’s never too late to register; call 519-289-0605 or show up. Souvenir wear will be available to order.

Visit the website for the event schedule and ticket information, FAQs about the weekend and local media coverage: http://gdhsalumni.wordpress.com.

The school wishes to commend the members of the 25 committees that have been working on various components of the reunion weekend.
