About VIP - Values, Influences, and Peers
The Values, Influences and Peers curriculum is the most unique grade 6 curriculum in Ontario Schools. The VIP program has been developed to enhance students’ self-esteem, reinforce responsible citizenship, positive social behaviour and appreciation for community values. The VIP curriculum is the only curriculum that is a joint initiative of the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services and the Ministry of Education and Training. With inclusiveness and equity the VIP lessons and resources have been prepared by teachers representing Ontario’s Public and Catholic School Boards and by police officers representing the Ontario Provincial Police and the many Ontario municipal police services.
Provincially:
The VIP program is a joint initiative of the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services and the Ministry of Education and Training. VIP programs and resources have been delivered in Ontario schools since 1984 by teachers working with the Ontario Provincial Police and many municipal police services.
Locally:
The VIP program is a cooperative project of the Thames Valley District School Board, the London District Catholic School Board, London Police Service, St. Thomas Police Service, Strathroy Caradoc Police Service, Woodstock Police Service, and the Ontario Provincial Police.

      
  

In Summary:
The VIP program is a values-centered and values-driven curriculum that empowers grade 6 students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies they need to make more effective decisions regarding the challenges they will face along their life’s journey. The grade 6 VIP program is constantly being revised to keep the program consistent with new crime prevention initiatives and community and personal safety concerns.
