Why come to a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre?

  • Children do better in school and in life when you get involved with their learning.
  • You and your child can learn and play together during your child’s important early years.
  • You’ll learn simple, fun activities to do at home with your child.
  • You’ll learn about the school system and your child will become familiar with school routines.
  • You’ll meet other parents with young children in your neighbourhood, as well as share ideas and get advice.

Parents, caregivers and children from babies to 6 years old.


What happens at a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre?

  • Fun activities that include reading and counting, music and story time.
  • Time to play in the art, sand and water areas or with toys and puzzles.
  • Snack time with healthy food.
  • Time for you and your children to read together. You can also borrow books in different languages from the library.

 

What else do the Centres offer?

They also have helpful information about other community resources, such as housing, health, dental, legal and employment services, plus libraries and more.
