As parents, we all want what's best for our children and we all want them to reach their full potential. The Thames Valley District School Board believes that parents have an essential role to play in their children's success at school. Even though they may not have formal training in education, parents are their children's first and most influential teachers; they have tremendous opportunities to teach, be models and to guide.
Research shows that parents' interest and engagement in what their children are doing at school has a positive effect on student achievement. However, some parents are unsure of what they can do to help their children succeed. Quite often, they're looking for specific information on how to help and what to do.
