Aligning Practices to Strengthen Relationships

On Wednesday, 2011 November 02 the second annual Director’s Forum was held at the London Convention Centre.  Short videos have been prepared that summarize  the messages from Bill Tucker and Tracy Grant.  A brief overview of some of the workshops that were presented is also included.  If you would like to book one of the workshops for your parent group, please contact Catherine Zeisner, Supervisor, System Staff Development at 519-452-2000 ext. 20220 or c.zeisner@tvdsb.on.ca.   I hope you will take time with your School Council and Home and School Associations to view the videos.

Emotional Intelligence - Leadership Model

School Councils 101

A successful school council just doesn’t happen, it takes the collaborative efforts of all the members. This session is designed to provide an overview on the importance of school councils and give you an understanding of roles and responsibilities. The session will focus on - School council leadership, collaboration and networking in building school council supports through Family of School Councils.

Parent Engagement

Effective parent engagement begins with parents supporting parents at the local level. This session will focus on practical parent engagement strategies and initiatives as a model for parent inclusion, parent capacity and authentic engagement.

In this workshop you will be introduced to some of the advanced features of Thames Valley’s new website system, School World. Discover how the District, school, and teacher sites are all interconnected, as well as how to find important District initiatives and public input opportunities that are shared online. We will also review the TVPIC school and District web pages, and the opportunities they hold to better communicate to your parents through your own school website and the e-Newsletter function.
Dealing with Conflict
Presenter:Catherine Zeisner, Learning Supervisor, System Staff Development
Participants will have the opportunity to examine conflict resolution methods and learn a conversation framework that provides a safe, honest and flexible method to engage others in dialogue.
