Jack Chambers and Davenport take top medals in basketball championships

Wednesday, Mar. 7, 2012 – Forty-eight teams from across the Thames Valley school district competed for medals in three divisions in the 13th Annual Elementary Competitive Basketball Championships last weekend.

In the top-ranked AAA class, the Jack Chambers Public School boys’ team won the gold medal game against Kensal Park with a score of 25-17. The Davenport Public School girls’ team defeated Clara Brenton 36-29 to win gold in the final.

In the AA division, the John Wise Public School boys’ team and the girls of Lord Roberts took home gold.

In the boys’ A class gold medal game, Centennial Central Public School conquered Byron Sommerset 44-18. John Dearness won the girls’ A-division championship, beating Plattsville with a score of 38-22.

Thanks to convenors Mike Babcock, Pete Babcock and Chris Bogart for their time and expertise which ensured good competition throughout the weekend. Special thanks to site convenors Laura Thompson, Bill Day, Pete Babcock, Chris Bogart, Karen Bailey and Chris Constantine.
