Welcome to Byron Northview, home of the Bobcats! We are located in Byron on one of the oldest school sites in Ontario. We have classes for students from Junior Kindergarten to grade eight. We have a strong academic focus and this year our new school goal is Problem Solving. Students will be asked to utilize their prior knowledge, previous experiences and newly acquired skills to solve problems. By creating effective problem solvers we will be enhancing student opportunities for future success!
This year we are very fortunate because a second administrator has been assigned to us to help deal with construction and growth challenges. Dan Collison will be my co-administrator and he is bringing a great deal of experience to the role.
This year we are also under construction. This year we are adding three new classrooms for next year's Full Day Kindergarten program, relocating our staff parking lot, adding new portables, adding new sidewalks, putting walls in our last open quad and adding an outdoor classroom. The construction will create some temporary obstacles that we will address as they move through each particular phase of construction.
The growth challenges are occurring because our numbers are growing rapidly but our space, both on the yard and in the school, is limited. We have learned to work together in close proximity.
In the a newsletter last year, the board decision to not allow peanut substitute products was noted. We do have a number of students with nut allergies and we ask that all lunches and snacks be nut free. Byron Northview is on the Facebook Social Media is a new reality and Home and School is using it to give information directly to parents.
