Message from Trustee Ruth Tisdale
Chair - Budget Advisory Committee

The Thames Valley District School Board is beginning budget discussions for the 2010/2011 school year. This website is designed to provide you with the latest information on the school board's budget and to serve as a forum for you to be part of this important process.

The Budget Advisory Committee encourages you to monitor the budget process and to provide input as priorities are established. The 2010-2011 budget remains focused on the system goal:  "to increase student achievement in literacy while reducing identified learning gaps, leading to graduation."

The process begins with the Preliminary Budget Assumptions which focus on enhancing opportunities for students and improving student learning, consistent with the vision of “A Caring, Learning Community”. With enrolment projections indicating a steady decline, the impact on revenues and expenditures must be considered when making budget decisions.

Over the coming months, the budget preparation process will include presentations by administration and opportunities for public input on how the budget can be shaped. This provides valuable information for Trustee discussion and debate, which ultimately leads to the submission of a final approved document to the Ministry of Education by the required deadline. If you have comments or concerns, please email info@tvdsb.on.ca or you can send a written submission to the mailing address listed below.

Sincerely,
Ruth Tisdale
