Victoria P.S.

Dress Code

Victoria Public School's Dress Code

At Victoria P.S. we aim to ensure a safe, respectful and quality learning environment.  Students are expected to dress in a manner that supports a positive learning environment and mutual respect.

  • clothing and accessories that promote alcohol, drugs, sex, violence, gangs, profanity, prejudice or racism are not permitted
  • head wear shall be removed when in school, except where required for medical, religious or safety reasons
  • bandanas of any style or colour are not allowed on the yard or in the school
  • undergaments must not be visible
  • sleep attire and underwear may not be worn as outerwear
  • footwear should be appropriate for safe participation in all types of classroom, gym and recess activities

In grades 4-8, these additional expectations reflect the changes and challenges faced by maturing students.

  • clothing must cover the midriff, the back and the shoulders
  • shorts and skirts should be mid-thigh or longer

Students who are dressed inappropriately will be asked to remedy the situation.  For example, the student may be asked to change, cover up, or turn the clothing inside out.  Parents may be notified if a student's dress if found to be inappropriate.  The final decision rests with the principal.
