CyberBullying

One of the most difficult forms of bullying is CyberBullying.  As adults, we grew up in our house, where more than likely our parents could overhear our telephone conversations.  In today's world, it is very hard to know what our children are "saying" by either text or email.  It is critical that we educate them (and ourselves) about the power of the written word and how it can be very hurtful if used inappropriately.  Here is a link that may help you out.......

Southwold Safe Schools Survey

Survey results comparing 2006 to 2009 show improvement in all areas of the Safe School Survey. These areas include student perception of safety, climate and respect, student rating of safety within locations and student reports of incidents of bullying.

More detailed results are posted on the Safe Schools section of Southwold’s website.

On March 24, 2010, our Safe School’s Committee met to discuss the results of the survey and to plan ways to make Southwold even safer. It was decided by the committee that we should focus on three main areas: parent communication, bus safety and celebrating school pride.

Based upon a Safe Schools survey completed in the spring of 2012, Southwold is proud to report very strong results. The survey was completed by school staff, parents and intermediate students. In all 41 safety domains, Southwold ranked a 4 (with 1 being the lowest and 4 being the highest), indicating that all members of our school community believe that Southwold maintains strong safety policies and it is committed to prevention and positive intervention.

We would also like the thank our school community for continuing to support and celebrate positive student contributions at our Cougar Pride Assemblies.
