2012-13

Co-Chairs:   Jackie Harris or Sonja Barss

Secretary:  Debbie Sutherland

Principal: Paul Sydor

Community Liason:   Jason Geddes

All parents/guardians are welcome to attend Parent & Community Council meetings.
We would like to have parents/guardians come out that would provide input and reflect the different grades and programs that their children are involved in at Parkside. We will have several sub-committees for parents to join: safe schools, fundraising and communication; as well as being informed on what is happening at the school and advising the principal on issues that arise.

All meetings are held in the school library at 7:00 p.m.

Purpose
The School Advisory Council promotes effective educational policies and procedures for Parkside Collegiate. It provides a forum for the parents, students, staff, and other community members to participate in decisions and recommendations for action which focus on enhancement of student learning and utilization of community resources.

All school council meetings are open, and any parent may attend the meetings. The School Council holds annual elections in September for members of the council. We require nine parents who have a student at PCI and who are not employed at Parkside. Employees of the school board who are parents of PCI students may be members of the Council if they declare a conflict of interest for any issues directly affecting the school board. Members are required to attend monthly meetings, and be available to accept input from other parents regarding school issues.

Staying involved with your child during their teen years is so important. Our hope is that we can match your specific interests, experience and availability to a need in the school community. The goal is to create a supportive network of parents whose contribution will benefit the school, the parent and their teen.
