Our Vision

"Respect and Dignity through Knowledge and Understanding"

Our Mission

The Evelyn Harrison Community is committed to providing quality education in a safe nurturing environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. An open partnership between school and home will address the individual needs of all children. Through shared knowledge and understanding we will acquire the skills necessary for the future.

  • We will work together to formulate quality programmes that are in the best interests of our learners.
  • We will help to build a sense of respect for each other.
  • We will do all we can to make Evelyn Harrison school a warm, friendly and supportive place where all are welcome.
  • We will, in all matters and all interactions, be fair, consistent, honest and compassionate.
  • We will provide the guidance and leadership necessary to foster pro-social, non-violent behaviour.
  • We will foster an environment that prizes teamwork in which the values and goals of the organization can flourish and where everyone can grow personally and professionally.
  • We will provide life-long learning and success for all.

 Our Creed

I believe that
I can be a good student.
I believe that
I can achieve.
I believe that if
I work hard
I will succeed.
Therefore, I will
work hard each day
to do my best.
I can learn.
I will learn.

Our School Song

Our School Song, Green and Gold, is sung at each Harrison Recognizes Assembly.  It captures the culture and values of our school.

Here at Harrison, We Believe!

Our School Goal

"To improve student achievement in writing"

Specifically, we are working to improve student achievement in writing by 5% on the spring EQAO assessment and OWA tasks and are using specific strategies to increase the metacognition of our students in their writing.

Noteworthy Items

Our very active Home and School provides our Meet the Teacher and Spring Fling each year. Their focus on providing technology for our school has helped provide 17 smartboard systems and 20 P4 computers for classroom use.  The Home and School recently completed a major project of building playground equipment for our JK/SK students.  The YWCA Community School Program runs a variety of programs for our students during lunch and after school.

Volunteers at the School

Volunteers are a very special part of our school. Students in co-op programs from Montcalm Secondary Schools, University of Western Ontario, and Fanshawe College, as well as Jump Start Math tutors, senior citizens, and parents work directly with our students on a regular basis.

Measures of Student Achievement and Success

We believe that assessment and evaluation of student achievement are integral parts of the learning process. Information gathered through assessment and evaluation helps teachers to determine students' strengths and weaknesses in their achievement of the curriculum expectations. It also serves to guide teachers in adapting curriculum and instructional approaches to students' needs and in assessing the overall effectiveness of programs and classroom practices. A variety of methods are used to gauge student progress including: teacher observation, classroom tests, projects and other examples of student work. For more information on our school's provincial assessment results, visit the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) website to see our school report.
