SCHOOL COUNCIL INFORMATION

School Council represents a very real opportunity for parents and care- givers to be actively involved shaping the everyday experience of their children at Eagle Heights. To that end, School Council is an advisory body. The advice provided is based on the general views of the school community, and the best interests of all the students at Eagle Heights.

A typical School Council consists of a chair & co-chair, secretary, parent representatives, student representative, school teaching staff representative, community representative, and a representative from Eagle Heights Home & School Association.

Among other things, the School Council has input into key issues such as the following:

The school code of student behavior

dress code

consultation on school action plans for improvement

school year calendar

curriculum and program goals and priorities

school budget priorities

methods of reporting to parents and the community

selection of principals

school-based services and community partnerships related to social health, recreational and nutritional programs

community use of school facilities

coordination of services for children and youth development, implementation, and review of board policies at the local level

 School Council Meetings
