Growing Success and Evaluation
In the spring of 2010, the Ministry of Education produced a policy document entitled Growing Success. This document serves as the new framework for Assessment and Evaluation practices in all schools/school boards across Ontario. The TVDSB has produced a Policy document that specifically outlines the expectations that will be in place regarding the grading of student work specifically in reference to plagiarized work and assignments which are not submitted on time or not submitted at all. The policy does allow for teachers to deduct marks or record zeroes where their professional judgement regards that to be an appropriate measure. Full implementation of the TVDSB policy will happen as of September, 2011.
Clarke Road Secondary School staff have engaged in a process to review our standards of practice in order that the key components of both Growing Success and the TVDSB Policy and Procedure for Student Reporting are implemented in a consistent manner. As a parent, if you wish to know more about the assessment and evaluation practices impacting on your child’s educational program, I urge you to attend our School Council meetings for more information. As part of our communication efforts, I would ask that you stay tuned to the school website during the upcoming year as we will update you on any information regarding the implementation of this document.
