Professional Engineers Ontario Chapter Scholarship Fund

Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is pleased to offer a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 for the school term beginning the Fall of 2013. Applications will be accepted until July 27, 2013 from London Chapter grade 12 students who will be attending an Engineering faculty at an Ontario university accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). Preference will be given based upon academics, extracurricular activities, community service and interest in pursuing a career in engineering as a licensed Professional Engineer. Please fill out the application form and submit with it your school transcript and an essay explaining why you want to become a Professional Engineer. Letters from references are also required. The Alma College International Alumnae Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a deserving female student who is continuing her education at a post secondary institution. The candidate must:

· Demonstrate financial need
· Have a proven record of community service
· Have a strong academic record
· Have participated in school organizations

This award is given annually to one of the publicly funded high schools in St. Thomas on a rotating basis. CECI is the recipient for the 2011-2012 school year.

The Southwold Township Scholarship Award

The Township of Southwold  Scholarship is a scholarship valued at $1,000.00 and may be awarded annually to one (1) male and one (1) female student graduating from a local secondary school.

Criteria:

- He/she must have graduated from Grade 12 and must provide proof of registration to a Canadian College or Canadian University. Minimum 2 year full time studies.

- He/ She must be able to demonstrate a history of community involvement.

The successful graduate must be a current resident of Southwold with residency of no less than six months duration and be pursuing full-time post secondary studies at either a  college or university  level in the fall of the current year.

The Sharon Anne Pook Memorial Award

To a graduating student pursuing a BScN within the Faculty of Health Sciences at a Canadian University.  The recipient must show a final grade average of 80% or greater in each of the following 4U subjects: Biology, Chemistry, English,  plus a final overall grade average of 85% or greater.  Student must demonstrate a working involvement within a community health care setting. 

To be selected by the staff of Central Elgin Collegiate Institute and presented at the School's Commencement ceremony.  The sponsors of this award reserve the right to review all criteria submitted by the student prior to the final assignment of this award.  The sponsors request the staff of Central Elgin Collegiate Institute to advise of time and place for this final review.

General Dynamics Proficiency Awards (4 @500.00)

Awarded to a graduating high school student who is entering post-secondary education. One scholarship for a student studying a skilled trade; one scholarship for a student studying engineering; one scholarship for a student studying business; one scholarship for a student who is a member of one of the 4 designated groups - visible minority, aboriginal person, women, or a person with a disability. Participation in extracurricular activities, employment and community experience will be considered in addition to academic performance. Separate application. See Mrs. Quigley.

Community Peacemakers Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded to a senior who has promoted the concept of peace through specific achievements and/or opportunities during his/her school years. Separate application. See Mrs. Quigley.

Stirling Chapter I.O.D.E. Award ($500.00)

Involvement in activities, demonstrated leadership, financial need, academic average in the 70-85% range. Separate application. See Mrs. Quigley.

John Wise Scholarship (80% of the annual interest earned) *

Available to a graduating student who will be pursuing a post secondary education in an agricultural, science or field related to agriculture such as veterinary science, animal husbandry, or food science. The student should have excellence in academic achievement, school extra-curricular activities and community activities.

Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation Scholarship *

(Award is equivalent of 1st yr. tuition at a can. university)

Available to students of Thames Valley D.S.B. Student must be enrolled in a business or commerce program at a Canadian university in Sept. Student must have 85% or better average on 6 4U or M courses and must have demonstrated an interest in and a commitment to Business & Commerce and/or entrepreneurship in the school/community.

Mary I. (Babcock) Anthony Memorial Scholarship ($100.00) *

One scholarship available to St. Thomas Secondary Schools. Female, scholastic aptitude & all round athletic skills. Continuing with post-secondary education. Each school nominates one candidate. See Mrs. Quigley no later than Apr. 30 for consideration.

Tom Kydd Award ($100.00) *

Must have at least 4 senior technology courses and one computer course beyond grade 9. Must also have high standing in English. See Mrs. Quigley by Apr. 30 if you wish to be nominated.

Kettle Creek Conservation Authority Scholarship ($500.00)

Post-secondary program relating to the environment including: sciences/biology, arborist, environment horticulture. Must have demonstrated commitment to the environment and leadership. Reasonable academic record. See Mrs. Quigley for application form.

Wm. (Bill) Martyn Memorial Scholarship ($amount depending on interest rates) *

Enrolling in post-secondary program related to Agriculture. Well-rounded student, not necessarily high academic achievement. 4H involvement a plus. Financial need a determining factor. See Mrs. Quigley by Apr. 30 if you wish to be nominated.

St. Thomas Performing Arts Scholarship ($300.00)

1 St. Thomas student who has been active in the performing arts during high school and who (preferably) will be continuing education in some area of the performing arts. Separate application. See Mrs. Quigley.

Elgin County Board of Education Awards ($175.00)*

A graduate who has shown significant improvement while at school and is pursuing post-secondary education.

Sloan McKillop Scholarship ($200.00)*

1 student from C.E.C.I. entering an Early Childhood Education or Child Care Worker program. Award will go to the student with the highest average in best 6 subjects.

Sloan McKillop Teaching Scholarship ($300.00 )

1 student from C.E.C.I. who plans to become a teacher. Award will go to the student with the highest average in 6 4U or M courses.

C.U.P.E. Local 4222 Award ($100.00)*

The CUPE Graduation Award is available only to children of current CUPE 4222 members.  If your parents  are custodians, secretaries, maintenance workers, technicians or work at the Distribution Centre at the Thames Valley Board office,  then you may be eligible. 

Applications are available on the CUPE 4222 website (www.cupe4222.ca).  Applicants must submit a presentation , in the form of an essay, poster, or audio video clip on "The Importance of Unions in Society."

Completed  applications are to be submitted directly to the CUPE 4222 office, Attention: Awards Committee, 544 Clarke Road, London, ON N5V 3K5.

Deadline for applications to be in the office is April 29—NO EXCEPTIONS

Dennis Redman Memorial Scholarship ($500.00)*

Student must be accepted into a program relating to emergency services. (Police, fire, ambulance) Preference to a Fire Service program. Must have demonstrated involvement in community service volunteer programs. Financial need will be considered.

Dr. Donna Green Family Science/Math Award ($500.00)*

85% average in 4U Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Calculus & Algebra. Must have contributed to 3 athletics teams at school. Preference to I.B. students.

R. E. Foster Award ($500.00)*

High standing in 4U Science & English and school leadership.

G. K. N. Sinter Metals Award ($250.00)*

A grad who has shown consistent improvement through hard work and perseverance. (Not necessarily high marks.)

Kiwanis Award ($200.00)*

Leadership in school activities.

Mathematics Award ($100.00)*

Outstanding achievement in 4U math, and active involvement in school athletics and/or music.

Oscar & Myrtle Rhame Scholarship ($95.00)*

Resident of St. Thomas, entering college or university and having financial need. Not necessarily highest achiever, but hard working and studious.

CECI Parents' Association Graduation Scholarships (4@$150.00)*

There are four awards to be presented:

The first and second scholarships will be presented to two deserving
graduates enrolled at a community college.

The third and fourth scholarships will be presented to two deserving
graduates enrolled at a university.

Recipients shoud have demonstrated sound academic performance, student
leadership, and contribution to school and community.
Recipients of these awards will not have received any other CECI
awards.

Paynes Mills Womens Institute Scholarship ($300.00)*

A student entering post-secondary (college or university) studies in Agriculture or Family Studies - or, if no such candidates, Health Sciences or Environmental Studies are acceptable. At least 70% average. Community service and financial need will be weighed equally with academics.

Richard Mathers Award ($100.00)*

Contribution to the school Athletic and Music Departments.

St. David=s Masonic Lodge #302 Award ($500.00)*

A deserving student who is continuing with post-secondary education.

St. Thomas Executives Association Award ($150.00)*

A deserving student entering a business program.

St. Thomas Optimist Club Scholarship ($143.00)*

Graduate who will attend a post-secondary institute and who has made a significant contribution to school activities and community service.

Steve Palmer Memorial Award ($175.00)*

The student who best exemplifies a caring spirit and genuine interest in other people. This individual will be respected by his/her peers and will show helpfulness and encouragement to others. (Mrs. Quigley would welcome nominations.)

University Women=s Club Award ($250.00)*

A deserving female student entering university.

Aiming for the Top Scholarships ($100.00 - $3500.00)

Several University and College-bound students at each school who have the highest averages.

The amount of the award is based on financial need. You must submit an OSAP application to be eligible for these scholarships.

J. H. Morris Bursary ($500.00) *

2 bursaries for graduating students of Thames Valley Board of Education support staff. Financial need is a factor. Written submission required. See Mrs. Quigley for details.

Elgin County Junior Farmers International Plowing Match Award ($150.00) *

For Elgin County students registered in a post-secondary agricultural program. See Mrs. Quigley by April 30 if you would like to be nominated.

Clark McDougall Fine Arts Scholarships ($1000.00)

Must be entering a fine arts or visual arts post-secondary program. Must have completed 3 full years at an Elgin County Secondary School. 4 original art works and a letter outlining career objectives must be submitted to the St. Thomas Art Gallery. See Mrs. Quigley for details.

Les Brayford Industrial Arts Award ($50.00) *

For proficiency in the final year of the Technology Program.

Jack Brumpton Entrance Award ($200.00) *

An entrance award established by the Kiwanis Club for a student entering Fanshawe College. This award is on a four year rotation between AVSS, CECI, PCI or St. Joseph=s. Students need at least a B average and preference is given to a student entering St. Thomas Campus of Fanshawe.

Elgin District Dental Association Award ($300.00)

Scholarship is awarded to the top 4U Biology student. Could be a student who is interested in Dentistry or has shown service to the community.

J. V. Findlay Bursary ($500.00) *

Awarded to a graduating student who is planning to pursue full time studies in Occupational Health & Safety or Workplace Environment at an Ont. Univ. Or Coll. Administered by the Industrial Accident Prevention Assoc.

E. C. McTavish Award (OSSTF) ($100.00)

Awarded to a graduate who has overcome some significant difficulties. Mid-March Application. See Mrs. Quigley.

Allen D. Smith Memorial Scholarship ($1000.00) *

Awarded to a deserving graduate proceeding to post-secondary program in Emergency Services (Firefighter, Law Enforcement, Paramedic).

Chartwell's Dining Bursary ($500.00)*

Awarded to a deserving graduate

Judy Agar Memorial Award (*$500.00)

This award will be presented to a graduating student from a former Elgin County Board of Education secondary school who is entering the nursing program within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. This student must have shown community involvement with preference given to students with financial need.
